When I found this tiny crib quilt, it had a typed note pinned to it that claims it was made from bridesmaids’ dresses and groomsmen’s vests, on the occasion of the arrival of the happy couple’s first-born. What provenance! It is a classic “Log Cabin” quilt, in the “sunshine & shadows” variant. The fabric pieces are less than one inch wide. Each center hearth square is tied with pink embroidery floss.

The inside-out photo shows the armscye (that’s the technical term for the sleeve hole) and the bias-binding that I do on the seams. This classy finishing technique makes your clothes wear better and last longer. making this jacket a perfect hand-me-down that can be treasured through many generations.

The jacket is a Carter’s Kids jacket, made with the same level of detail you would find in an adult garment. It has real pockets and riveted logo buttons. The tag says it is a size 7, measuring 30″ at the chest, and 29″ at the waist. The shoulder spans 11″, with an 18″ sleeve. It is 16.5″ at center back.
