Charlie Quilt Jacket
$240.00
- Upcycled quilt jacket
- Window pane quilt
- Twin patch pockets
- Vintage new old stock Talon zipper
This is the first Charlie jacket prototype! Made from a jewel-toned window pane quilt accented with cheerful cartoon dinosaurs. I purchased this quilt from the original maker, Alberta Dalke. Her label is inside, dated 1997. Some of the window pane strips were going threadbare, so I mended over them with new black bias tape. You can see the evidence of these mends on the inside, for a touch of wabi-sabi.
The Charlie jacket is a full zip hoodie with twin patch pockets and shoulder epaulettes. This early prototype has serged and top-stitched construction seams, instead of my usual bias-bound seam work. It is slightly imperfect, but still very durable and machine-washable. The front zipper is a vintage new old stock Talon brand metal-toothed zip.
This jacket measures 48″ at the chest and 40″ at the bottom hem. The shoulder spans 17″ with a 24.5″ sleeve. It is 22″ in length at the center back, from the bottom of the hood to the hem.
