I used a vintage pinwheel pattern quilt from 1976 to replace the sleeves on this upcycled denim trucker jacket. The quilt is hand-quilted and machine-pieced, and is in like new condition. Originally a Style & Co. brand jean jacket, sold at Macy’s, it is very nicely made and finished. It has both hand pockets and breast pockets on the outside, as well as inside pockets. The inside out photograph shows the bias-bound seams with which I finished the armscye (that’s the technical term for the sleeve hole). I accented the outer sleeve seams with the same bias tape.
I machine-washed and dried this jacket to prove durability and limit color bleed. I do recommend washing it with “color catchers” for the first couple washes (I put a couple of them in the pocket for you). The jacket appears to have been worn very little before I got my hands on it, so it will be up to you to put some age and character into it!
Jacket’s original tag says it is size 16W. Measures 50″ at bust, 48″ at bottom hem, 25″ sleeve, 17.5″ shoulder, and 25″ at center back. Approximate size 1X
