  • Upcycled quilt coat
  • Vintage 1960’s Fence Rail pattern
  • Hidden hook and loop fastener
  • Size XXL

The quilter who put together this amazing 1960s-era “Fence Rail” quilt has a great eye for color! Each square is made of three fence rails, with a print in the center, sandwiched by a coordinating solid on either side. The hand quilting is all done with red thread, an unusual touch that gives it some extra interest, especially around the collar, where the quilting is done in a continuous ribbon pattern.

The Rachel chore coat is a boxy, loose-fit, hip length jacket with a shawl collar and patch pockets. It closes at the front with a hidden hook and loop fastener. It has broad drop-shoulders and slouchy sleeves that can be cuffed to the forearm or elbow, if desired. All the inside seams are bound with bias tape to provide an exceptionally long-wearing garment that will tolerate years of wear and multiple washings. I do recommend the gentle cycle for this coat, due to the age of the fabrics.

This coat is a size XXL (2X), measuring 58″ at the bust. It is 62″ at the bottom hem. The drop-shoulder is 31″ wide with a 16″ sleeve. It measures 34″ long at center back.
