Sleeve Swap Trucker Jacket
$150.00
- Upcycled denim trucker jacket
- Pinwheel / nine patch pattern
- Hong Kong finish
- Size Large
The details on this jacket are amazing! The embroidered breast pockets are doubled, and it has on-seam hand pockets. Inside, many of the seams are treated with a Hong Kong finish, where a grosgrain ribbon is painstakingly wrapped around the raw edges and stitched down. The riveted post buttons say “california” but there is no brand tag or other identifying info.
The quilt I used for the sleeves is a combination of the pinwheel pattern and a variation of the nine patch pattern. It is machine quilted with a technique called “stitch in the ditch” that accents the individual pieces. I worked the long sleeve seams on the outside, wrapping them in bias tape to imitate piping. The armscye (that’s the technical term for the sleeve hole) is bound in flat-sewn bias tape that coordinates with the grosgrain ribbon trim.
I machine washed and dried this jacket to prove durability and limit color bleed. I do recommend washing it with “color catchers” for the first couple washes (I put a couple of them in the pocket for you). The jacket appears to have been worn very little before I got my hands on it, so it will be up to you to put some age and character into it!
It’s approximately a size large, measuring 40″ at the bust, 38″ at the waist, and 42″ at the bottom hem. The shoulder is 15.5″ and the sleeve is 25″. It is a bit longer in the torso, measuring 24″ at center back.
